Egyptian court sentences swimwear- and salon-shop-owner-led drug gang to life imprisonment

A criminal gang that used a salon and swimwear shop as a front to traffic drugs on the North Coast has been sentenced to life imprisonment and fined 500,000 Egyptian pounds each.

• The court, presided over by Judge Khaled al-Shabasi, sentenced the gang leader and four other members to life imprisonment and ordered the destruction of drugs valued at 250 million Egyptian pounds.
• Police raided a villa stored with drugs including shabu, ice, hashish, heroin, and pills, and seized vehicles, weapons, and mobile phones.
• The gang used a woman as a cover and transported drugs via tow trucks and motorcycles, storing them in the salon and swimwear shops.
• The court noted the danger of synthetic drugs, stating they are made from hazardous chemicals.
