Mahmoud Saad recounts that Anwar Sadat personally requested his iconic underwear photo

Egyptian media personality Mahmoud Saad said the late President Anwar Sadat himself asked a photographer to take the famous photo of him in his underwear.

• Saad said photographer Farouk Ibrahim told him that Sadat requested the photo, saying "Come take a picture of me."
• Saad said Ibrahim took the photos at Sadat's morning appointment, and the initiative came from the president.
• Saad said the newspaper Akhbar El-Yom contacted the presidency to ask about publishing the photo, and Sadat approved its publication.
• Saad said the photo was published on the front page of Akhbar El-Yom.
