American arrested in Utah for stabbing Muslim man 15 times in attack motivated by religion

US authorities arrested a suspect in Utah after he stabbed a Muslim man 15 times at a mall, telling investigators he "wanted to kill Muslims."

• Peter Michael Larsen, 48, was arrested and charged with attempted murder and possession of a prohibited dangerous weapon, according to court records.
• Larsen told investigators he targeted the victim with intent to kill him because of his Muslim faith, police stated in a sworn affidavit.
• The victim, a Muslim man working at a kiosk in the Valley Fair Mall in West Valley City, sustained 15 stab wounds and was hospitalized in critical condition.
• Bystanders restrained the suspect before police arrived; Larsen was also taken to the hospital for injuries sustained during the restraint before being booked into Salt Lake County jail.
