UK government unveils £12.5m music libraries scheme backed by Ed Sheeran; LIVE Trust adds £1m grassroots fund

The government has announced a Music in Libraries initiative co-designed by Ed Sheeran and a £1 million grassroots music fund raised by major touring artists.

• Ed Sheeran championed the scheme to Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy last year, leading to the co-designed initiative.
• The government will spend at least £12.5 million on recording booths, mixing desks, and equipment for public libraries.
• An extra £15 million will be allocated to the Music Growth Package to help emerging artists break through domestically and internationally.
• The LIVE Trust announced a £1 million fund from artists including Harry Styles and Sam Fender, supporting over 100 grassroots artists and venues since January 2025.
