Sam Neill, star of Jurassic Park and My Brilliant Career, has died

Director Gillian Armstrong confirmed the death of actor Sam Neill, saying he died suddenly after completing cancer treatment.

• Armstrong said Neill passed away the day after she watched a rerun of his interview with autistic students.
• Armstrong recalled that Neill had recently finished cancer treatments and was "finally free."
• Armstrong noted that Neill wrote a memoir during his cancer treatment.
• Armstrong said she and her family made a toast with a 1998 Neill pinot noir in his honor.
