EU sanctions Russian cyber spies; Pegasus hack of EU investigator revealed

The European Union imposed sanctions on nine individuals and four entities over a Russian cyber espionage campaign, while researchers confirmed a European politician was hacked with Pegasus spyware during his investigation of spyware abuses.

• Researchers at Citizen Lab confirmed that Greek former MEP Stelios Kouloglou had his phone hacked with Pegasus spyware in 2022 and 2023 while serving on the European Parliament’s committee investigating spyware abuses.
• Kouloglou said he plans to sue NSO Group, the spyware maker, over the hacking.
