David Francis's murder conviction quashed by Court of Appeal

The Court of Appeal has overturned the murder conviction of David Francis, who was jailed in 2024 for a stabbing death in Nottingham.

• The Court of Appeal quashed Francis's conviction for the murder of Davices Anderson, who died from a single stab wound in April 2023.
• The judges said there was insufficient evidence to categorise Francis as a participant in the violence, which "erupted suddenly and unexpectedly."
• Francis, 63, had been sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 16 and a half years in April 2024.
• Co-defendant Courtney McLeary's separate appeal against his own life sentence was dismissed by the same court.
