Interior Ministry Reveals Details of Assault Allegation Against Woman and Her Son

Egyptian authorities have disclosed the circumstances behind a social media video alleging assault and defamation in Port Said.

• The Interior Ministry identified the complainant, a Port Fouad resident, who reported that a man had insulted and threatened his mother over a prior dispute regarding a commercial partnership.
• Authorities arrested the suspect, an unemployed man with a criminal record residing in the Al-Zohour district, who confessed to the incident.
• The suspect told police he committed the assault due to prior conflicts with the complainant and his mother over a fish trading business, and accused the complainant of insulting him.
• Legal measures have been initiated against the suspect.
