Egypt Launches Second Phase of Internet Addiction Clinics in Four New Hospitals

The Egyptian Ministry of Health has launched the second phase of specialized clinics for internet and electronic game addiction treatment, adding four new hospitals nationwide.

• Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar announced the second phase includes operating service in four new hospitals: Misr El Gedida, Benha, Shebin El Kom, and Sohag.
• The expansion raises the total number of hospitals offering the service to 10, following the first phase at six hospitals.
• Dr. Ayman Abbas said the initiative provides a free self-assessment questionnaire on the national mental health platform to help citizens evaluate usage by age group.
• Dr. Sally El Nubi reported that 120 cases attended clinics during the first two-month phase, with 60% being youth and adolescents and 70% unemployed.
