UK announces £251m police boost to protect Jewish communities after antisemitic attacks

The British government has announced over £250 million in additional funding for policing in Jewish communities following a wave of antisemitic attacks.

• The funding will deliver more than 500 additional officers across England and Wales, with £86m for the Metropolitan Police to recruit 300 officers.
• Prime Minister Keir Starmer said the funding would deliver "a step change in protection" for Jewish communities.
• Greater Manchester Police will receive £22m to sustain increased presence after the Heaton Park synagogue attack that killed two people.
• The package includes £59m for counter-terrorism police and antisemitism training, after a stabbing in Golders Green and arson of four ambulances in March.
