Manchester United unveils plans for 100,000-seat stadium near Old Trafford

Manchester United has disclosed details of a proposed new 100,000-capacity stadium to be built 350 metres from its current home, with a master plan set for a council vote this month.

• The club announced the stadium would be located 350 metres north-west of Old Trafford and is part of a wider redevelopment expected to create 48,000 jobs and 15,000 homes.
• Collette Roche, chief executive of the stadium project, said the project is “a sanity project, not a vanity project” and that all funding options including debt, equity, and naming rights remain available.
• Roche stated the club aims to have the new stadium open by 2035, and that seating 100,000 would allow more fans to attend matches.
• Trafford council’s executive committee is scheduled to decide on the draft master plan on July 20, with an eight-week public consultation beginning July 28.
