Egypt addresses OIC women's conference in Islamabad, outlines national initiatives

Egypt's delegation, led by National Council for Women head Amal Ammar, delivered the country's statement at the OIC ministerial conference on women in Islamabad on July 12–13, 2026.

• The 9th OIC Ministerial Conference on Women convened in Islamabad under the theme "Social, Economic and Political Empowerment of Women in OIC States: Challenges and the Way Forward."
• Amal Ammar affirmed that Egypt has made women's empowerment a national priority, citing constitutional and legislative reforms and the launch of the National Strategy for Women's Empowerment 2030.
• Ammar stated that Egypt's "Noura" program for girls aged 10–14 has benefited over 18,000 girls, and that the "Tahweesha" program promotes financial inclusion through savings and digital lending.
• Ammar highlighted that women hold 26.8% of seats in Egypt's House of Representatives and 10.6% in the Senate, and called for OIC member states to join the Women's Development Organization.
