Egypt expands insurance coverage for Egyptians abroad

Egypt's Financial Regulatory Authority and Foreign Ministry signed a protocol to expand optional insurance coverage for Egyptians working overseas.

• Dr. Islam Azzam, head of the Financial Regulatory Authority, and Ambassador Nabil Habashi, Deputy Foreign Minister, signed a cooperation protocol to expand insurance protection for Egyptians working abroad.
• The protocol adds coverage for arbitrary dismissal risks starting August 1, 2026, with compensation up to 100,000 Egyptian pounds, and includes permanent disability coverage of 250,000 pounds.
• The optional insurance policy, available through a dedicated platform for all Egyptians abroad, costs an annual premium of 400 Egyptian pounds.
• The Foreign Ministry will raise awareness about the policy through its channels and outreach to Egyptian communities abroad, while the Regulatory Authority will handle online issuance and claims processing.
