Life Sentence Upheld for Killing Neighbor Over Slander Report in Alexandria

An Egyptian appeals court has upheld a life sentence for an unemployed man convicted of murdering his neighbor after a dispute over a slander complaint.

• The Alexandria Misdemeanor Court of Appeals accepted the appeal formally but upheld the original life sentence against the defendant "Z. A. Z." and ordered him to pay legal costs.
• The defendant, believing the victim had reported him for slander, stabbed the victim multiple times with a knife after a quarrel at the defendant's residence in 2025.
• The victim was taken to a hospital but died from his injuries; a police report was filed, and the case was referred to the criminal court.
