Alderney set to welcome Britain in Bloom judges

Alderney will host Britain in Bloom judges on 29 July as the island represents the Bailiwick of Guernsey in the national RHS awards.

• The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) will recognise communities demonstrating commitment to conservation, sustainability, and volunteer involvement.
• Alderney's entries include the Memorial Garden, Victoria Street hanging baskets, the island's railway station, and harbour and airport planting schemes.
• The judges' three-hour itinerary includes the restored Hut at Saye, the Roman Fort at Longis, and a Ramsar site and gannet colony.
• Alderney has been shortlisted in the coastal category among 44 communities from across the British Isles.
